Splurge Worthy Seaweed Skin Care Products From Repechage

Beauty From The Sea

Repechage all natural skin care products

Environmental protection for your skin that doesn’t feel like sunscreen and provides long term benefits?  Is that possible?  (I’m squinting me eyes!) What about something to apply around your eyes that will immediately depuff, brighten, and moisturize the area?  It seems too ambitious, doesn’t it?  Previously, I would have answered that with a “yes” but I’ve discovered an exquisite line of seaweed based skin care products from Repêchage.  While the company has been manufacturing skin care products for over twenty five years, I never knew of them until I stumbled upon their award winning Eye Rescue Pads browsing Yahoo Beauty.   The seaweed harvested to make the products comes off the Brittany Coast of France.  Coincidentally, we have an exchange student from that region of France staying with us this summer.   It’s fate…. this discovery was meant to be!

Repêchage has a fascinating inventory of products that use specific seaweeds rich in vitamins, minerals, trace elements, amino acids, and antioxidants.  The team at Repêchage processes the seaweed using proprietary methods to reap the therapeutic benefits of the plants.  Currently, there is no plant known that contains vitamins and minerals in the concentration found in seaweed.  It is an extraordinary plant that requires hand harvesting.  In the areas of the world where it thrives, therapeutic use of seaweed dates back to the19th century.  In the United States, Repêchage championed the use of seaweed for natural skin care and cosmetics.  There are many different varieties of seaweed used in the their products.  It’s interesting to see them and read about their benefits. I’d encourage you to take a peek.  Warning!  The seaweed is not pretty but trust me, by the time it’s processed into the Repêchage products, it’s much more than pretty!

If you visit the Repêchage website, it’s difficult to select a product. Their website is beautiful and their packaging is gorgeous!   There are so many delightful products with extraordinary benefits from the ingredients they use.  You will also notice their  their product line is quite comprehensive.  It’s like standing in front of a French bakery’s window.  How do you pick?  Everything looks so good!  I selected the Rescue Eye Pads with Seaweed and Natural Tea Extracts  ($38) because they have been so highly praised.   I’m the one who stores tea bags in the refrigerator for desperate moments so I thought this was a better option for me.  I also selected the Mineral Face Shield  ($58) since I’ve been struggling with wearing sunscreen under my makeup and have entered into the hottest and most brutal summer months in Phoenix, Arizona.  I’m impressed by both products and definitely want to try more from this line!  I’m excited to share this amazing discovery!

These little pads caught my eye on Yahoo Beauty and I couldn’t wait to try them after I read more about their ingredients.  Plus, these products and many more from Repêchage have been highlighted in the press.  I think I’ve been living under a rock. The pads contain all the wonderful extracts below and they are highly effective.  When I use these pads, after 10-15 minutes, my eyes are brighter and there is no puffiness or no dark circles with the exception of what is hereditary and I can’t ever remove.  My eyes look noticeable different and feel revived after I use the pads.  Clearly you can see from the list of extracts these pads are soaked in, not seeing any benefits would be impossible!  These are serious beauty weapons.  You will emerge 10 minutes later and notice a difference!  The first time I used them, I was so surprised, I ran around the house asking my family to look at my eyes!  (I get a little excited when something great happens!)  Not only did I see immediate results but the seaweed extracts provide anti-aging effects and deliver moisture to the delicate eye area.

What makes the Eye Rescue Pads so amazing?

  • Green Tea Extract (Camellia Sinensis)
Extract of unfermented tea, high in catechins such as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), gallocatechin (GC), epigallocatechin (EGC), and epicatechin (EC). Protective against free radicals. Provides superior anti-inflammatory benefits.
  • Rooibos Tea (Aspalathus linearis)
Powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and free radical scavenging properties. Rooibos Tea is known to protect the skin against oxidative stress (anti-aging effect).
  • Roman Chamomile (Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract)
Extracts made from the daisy-like white and yellow heads of the Chamomile flowers. Used as an excellent skin soother and anti-inflammatory agent.
  • Yerba Mate (Ilex Paraguariensis Leaf Extract)
Known for its astringent and toning benefits for the skin.
  • Kola Nut (Cola Nitida Extract)
Contains the stimulants caffeine (up to 2%). Energizes and tones.
  • Cucumber Extract
Soothing, anti-inflammatory, and skin tightening properties.
  • Algae Extract
A blend of active algae components including Polysaccharides (sugar) that acts as natural humectants; alginates, an excellent moisturizer and elasticizer for the skin. Algae extracts, acts as a great antioxidant.
  • Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract
Commonly known as Aloe Vera, helps enhance the appearance of dry or damaged skin by reducing flaking and restoring suppleness.

It’s no wonder these eye pads were chosen for the Aesthetician’s Choice 2015 Dermascope Award.  They are a must have and if you really want to fall in love, store them in the refrigerator and use them when they are nice and cold.  I know if you try these, you will thank me for this tipping you off about this product!  Where have they been all my life?

Repêchage Mineral Face Shield

Repechage’s Mineral Face Shield was the other product I decided to try and it was also a big hit for me.  This is a home run sunscreen!   Some of you have asked if I know of a good sunscreen and I’ve always said I don’t.  Now I would answer that question different.  (For Kay at Blush and Bronzer… you will love this!)

It will not, cannot, and won’t get any better than this when it comes to environmental protection.  First of all, the product provides a blurring effect and it’s on point with the emerging Korean beauty trend.  But it offers so much more than just that.  The Mineral Face Shield is a sunscreen and lasts all day with an SPF 30.  While that is not printed on the packaging, I contacted the company to validate the SPF factor.  It also contains antioxidants and moisturizers to improve the overall health and condition of your skin.  The product is oil-free, non-comedogenic, and dermatologist tested.  You don’t have to worry about break outs or clogged pores and the finish is soft and matte.   This is really an incredible find!

When wearing this alone, it improves the look and tone of my skin without feeling like I’m wearing anything but a light and soft moisturizer.  It contains substances to reflect and disperse light for that flawless skin we are all chasing.  I do apply moisturizer first and then I put this over it.  The Mineral Face Shield locks in the moisturizer and creates the environmental shield.  It doesn’t smell or feel like sunscreen.  I don’t feel I need to wash anything off my hands after I apply it either.   It applies very silky and sheer.  It feels good on my skin.

I also wear this under my makeup.  When using it, I don’t need makeup primer.  This product is a very effective primer.  My makeup stays on all day and the Mineral Face Shield  creates a smooth and flawless canvas for my makeup.  I’ve tried this under three foundations and all three wore longer than when I use my favorite makeup primers.   The zinc oxide helps to prevent sweating and absorbs facial oils so I’ve found this out performs my makeup primers plus it provides long term benefits.

What’s in the Repêchage Mineral Face Shield that makes it unique?

  • Laminaris Digitata
This seaweed is a potent antioxidant that also contains vitamins, minerals, amino acids and trace elements to nourish the skin. Polysaccharides help to lock moisture into the skin.
  • Nylon-12
Like  a silk stocking for your skin, this is made of polymer microspheres, that glide smoothly, scattering light to diminish the look of fine lines on the skin while allowing skin to show through naturally. This ingredient also helps layer the cream perfectly under makeup without pilling.
  • Zinc Oxide
This micronized mineral forms a physical barrier on the skin, shielding skin from damaging environmental aggressors while soothing and absorbing excess oils.

I wish I found this line sooner but instead of dwelling on what I missed, I will continue to indulge myself in what I’ve discovered.   Actually, July has been an incredible month and I’ve come across a few extraordinary companies this month that have changed my permanent routine.  This is the first one I wanted to share as I have had several weeks to experiment with the Repêchage products.  I will definitely try more from this line and I’m excited to share more great finds.  Repêchage is used in world class spas and I can understand why.  The benefits and quality surpass many other products I’ve used over the years and this line and their products are well worth the splurge.  I hope you have an opportunity to try them and love them as much I do.  Please share if you’ve have tried anything from this line or plan to.  I’d love to hear about your experience.

Lots of love,

  1. Never heard of this! Well written as always. =) I’m digging the rose prop, too.

Stop making me wanna buy stuff! So unfair.

    1. I never heard of it either but let me tell you… First product ever where my makeup really stayed on all day. No red splotches peeking through! No areas where it appears rubbed off. I’m loving it. All my primers are now Set aside.

    1. For as many publications they have been in, I’m shocked I didn’t know of them either. Plus, they have been around a long time. I just was reading on Yahoo Beauty and that’s where I discovered them. They are really wonderful and it’s hard to pick things. Everything looks soooo good! You will love the eye pads. I used mine this morning. =)

  2. Sold! haha I have put these on the top of my list- once I finish out the eye pads and sunscreen I have now I am so ordering those. They sound amazing! The eye pads, do they go over the whole eye area, like you lay down with the eyes closed, or are they ones you put on underneath over the bags? Either way I’m going to try them, I’ve been looking like I’ve aged twenty years with this second pregnancy- just curious. 🙂 Awesome post love! 🙂

    1. You will love it!! I even compared this to Dior’s product and Dior’s still feels like sunscreen. This is a good one!! Yeah the eye pads are circles and they cover the entire eye area. They are great after getting brows done as they go all the way up to the brow and then underneath for circles. Omg, they are great!! Are you not sleeping well with the pregnancy?

      1. Nice I can’t wait to try them! I will let you know when I get my order in 🙂 And sleep has been impossible lately. I get lots of time to but this little nugget inside just likes to kick the crap out of my ribs as soon as I get settled, and if it’s not her it’s heartburn, leg cramps or nausea. Oh the joys of pregnancy we women get! 🙂

        1. I remember those days. I was so so sick with my last one that they put me on Zofran and that was amazing! No more nausea. Magical!! Sometimes I would get kicked hard. Or it would be hard enough to wake up Mike next to me. LOLOLOLOL. Do you see a press out sometimes or a hand? That’s really neat to see. A couple times I would see the little foot pressing on my belly. I miss being pregnant sometimes.

          1. I suffered with horrible nausea on my first one the whole pregnancy. This time my first trimester sucked for nausea but once I hit the second it went away thankfully! I’ve been having a lot of Braxton hicks and pressure lately, she’s a strong little kicker! I haven’t seen an actual hand or foot yet but she definitely pushes out and you see this lump drag across my belly. It freaks Joe out haha it’s like I’m channeling Sigourney Weaver in Aliens some days I missed it when I wasn’t and am so grateful to be having another but I cannot wait for her to get out! ☺
