A Big Advance in Skin Care – SkinMedica Lumivive With Blue Light Protection

SkinMedica Lumivive Review Skin Care

A Problem We Are Facing

High Energy Visible light (also known as HEV or blue light) is a term I first heard last year, but I didn’t think twice about it.  Now I’ve learned, high exposure to blue light can damage skin.   Recent research suggests that blue light contributes to skin aging similar to UVA.  Actually, blue light penetrates the skin deeper than UV rays!  Don’t panic though, SkinMedica is on top of the issue.  I’m going to tell you about their new and most advanced skin care product, the Lumivive System.

You’re probably already using a broad spectrum sunscreen every day!  I KNOW YOU ALL ARE!  But with the increased exposure we have to blue light, an HEV light blocker should also be used.  Blue light comes from your tablets, mobile device screens, TV screens, computers, LED lights… all the things that we sit in front of for hours in this digital age.  Research shows blue light can increase free radical damage and lead to visible signs of aging.   Did you know the average American looks at their phone 47 times a day and spends up to 10 hours in front of a screen?  The exposure to blue light is very high for most of us.

Blue light exposure and skin damage

So, blue light… YES, it’s a problem and an increasing concern for many people.  In addition to the blue light issues, most of us are exposed to excessive pollution and environmental aggressors.  Smoke, automobile exhaust, factory emissions, and other pollutants affect our skin causing hyperpigmentation, blemishes, and dryness.  According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 92% of the world’s population lives in areas that exceed WHO’s ambient air quality guidelines.  In other words, some of these pollutants cause significant risk to human health.

The Lumivive Skin Care System

Lumivive from SkinMedica is a huge advance in skin care and now one of my daily essentials.  It protects my skin from blue light and pollution.  I’m really concerned about the effects of blue light on my skin based on emerging research.  It can lead to sagging skin, wrinkles, dark spots, uneven texture and tone, and premature aging.  SkinMedica’s Lumivive solution works around the clock to repair and protect the skin.  I’m so excited about this new skincare duo!  In clinical studies, Lumivive was shown to improve the appearance of skin tone and evenness.  After 12 weeks of use, 85% of patients agreed that Lumivive kept their skin looking radiant all day.

Lumivive is a skin care duo with two formulas for 24-hour protection.  In my opinion, this new product is a must-have for maximum protection.  The formula complements existing skin care routines and is made for all skin types. I’m paranoid about my skin getting damaged and therefore, I don’t take any risks when it comes to my skin.  Sunscreen isn’t enough anymore.  I’m in front of my phone and a computer all day (and often at night!).  For that reason, I’ve been using Lumivive for about three weeks.  Since I’ve been using it, I’ve definitely noticed a difference with my skin tone.  Interestingly, I have not used Lumivive on my neck or décolletage.  That skin is patchy and red when I remove my makeup and wake up in the morning.  I’ve started using Lumivive in those areas too and I hope I will see the same improvements.

Lumivive Day Damage Defense Serum

Lumivive Day Serum

Lumivive Day is a lightweight serum that forms a barrier on your skin and lasts all day.  It contains a blend of antioxidants, natural extracts, and peptides that help prevent skin damage and restore dry, tired, stressed skin.  Lumivive Day is a serum but I would describe it as a lightweight translucent cream. It’s absorbed quickly and combines easily with other products.  There’s no fragrance or residue that I’ve noticed when using it.  I use one pump of the Day formula after cleansing and applying my C serum.  Following that, I use SkinMedica’s Dermal Repair Cream and TNS Illuminating Eye Cream.  Not pictured below is the TNS Essential Serum which is also one of my daily essentials but I just ran out.  I also use their HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator.  You can read my post here about the HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator (it’s totally amazing!)

SkinMedica Lumivive Review

The Lumivive Night cream is also lightweight and contains ingredients that detoxify and rejuvenate stressed skin.  It’s formulated to visibly improve the tone and texture for a more luminous complexion.  I use one pump in the evening after cleansing and applying my tretinoin or retinol.  Then, I  usually wait about 20 minutes and then I apply Lumivive followed by any other moisturizers or products I’m using.   This cream has no scent and feels weightless on the skin.

Lumivive Night ingredient list:

Lumivive Review HEV Blue light

For those of you obsessed with skin care, I highly recommend looking at the new Lumivive system from SkinMedica.  People see changes in their skin as early as 2 weeks.  For me, it happened at 3 weeks.  I personally feel better knowing I have a weapon against the effects of pollution and blue light and I love the results so far!  Therefore, I’m keeping this product in my permanent rotation!

So, now that you know more about environmental effects on your skin, are you planning to incorporate this into your skin care routine?  Were you aware of the effects blue light can have on your skin?

    1. OHHHHHHHH, this is an AMAZING clinical brand here in the US. In Italy, it’s possible that they sell under a different name. It’s one of the most highly rated clinical skin care lines in the US – sold in our most prestigious medical offices. If you can get the line there, I highly recommend it. Thank you for stopping in lovely! I’m on my way over to check out your amazing fashion posts! XO!

Please leave a comment. I'd really love to chat with you!
