I never gave collagen much thought but as I get older, understanding what it is and how to keep my body producing it has become important. Ā As we age, our body produces less collagen and elastin and this is what causes our skin to begin to sag. Ā I know, how terrible right? Ā You aren’t alone if you feel discouraged by the inevitable effects of Mother Nature. Ā However, as science and technology continues to advance, so do opportunities to combat her effects. Ā When NuFACE released their first at home anti-aging device over 10 years ago, it was a huge success. Ā The device uses microcurrent technology to tone muscles and has been shown to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. Ā While this was previously only available in professional settings, the first device released in 2005 for home use by NuFACE was approved by the FDA and got rave reviews.
Let’s discuss the latest facial toning device that has been released, the NuFACE mini! Ā A smaller, portable, less expensive device that offers the same facial toning features that their award winning Trinity device offers.
The NuFace mini Facial Toning Device
The NuFACE mini is a smaller version of the NuFACE Trinity which is their best selling device. Ā These devices are made in the USA, FDA approved, and professionally recommended. Ā Today, they are sold all over the world. Ā The latest FDA-cleared device, theĀ NuFACE miniĀ features the same microcurrent technology as their top selling device in a petite, portable travel-friendly size. Ā Unlike the NuFACE Trinity, there are no additional attachments to swap out. Ā The mini is just used for facial toning.
The NuFACE mini is very easy to use. Ā Inside the box is a wall charger that plugs directly into the device , a tube of gel primer, and a users manual. Ā The gel is applied prior to use to help conduct the microcurrent. Ā The NuFACE mini takes 16 hours to initially charge so be prepared to wait a day before you get to try it out. Ā Patience, my beauties! Ā Once charged, when you press the power button in the middle, the device will light up. Ā You can control the intensity to be light, moderate, or intense.

The reviews on NuFACE products have been consistently positive. Ā Interestingly, it wasn’t too long ago that I was researching exercises to tone my facial muscles. Ā Shocker but….I didn’t keep up with the routine. Ā It was too time consuming and I couldn’t figure out if I was doing the exercises properly or not. Ā I felt like an idiot trying to do them. Ā It makes sense that those muscles should be exercised to stay firm and tone. Ā The NuFACE mini is easier to use and within 5 minutes is designed to tone and contour your facial muscles. Ā It’s touted as a 5-minute face lift. Ā I’m on board with that!
The NuFACE device has been featured in InStyle, Cosmopolitan, People magazine, and Vogue! Ā An article was also published in 2011 in
Elle Magazine about microcurrent technologyĀ and they recommend to use it alone or in conjunction with botox to help avoid muscle atrophy. Ā Dr. Nicholas Perricone also offers microcurrent facials in his flagship clinic. Ā The technology has certainly been gaining popularity over the years.
What is the NuFace Microcurrent technology?
To achieve the contouring and lifting of the facial muscles, NuFace technology uses microcurrent technology. Ā What is that? Ā Microcurrents are low level currents that help stimulate muscles under the skin and help lift, tone, and contour the facial tissues. It’s described as a mini workout for your facial muscles, many of which aren’t used a lot over time like other muscles which causes sagging. Ā It works from the bottom of the skin layers up to lift up tissue in a gentle non-invasive way. Ā This is very effective with facial toning because the skin is attached to the facial muscles.

Microcurrent is a low-level current that mimics the bodyās natural current and can provide both instant and cumulative results. Ā Because microcurrent works sub-sensory, the treatment is painless. Ā Although when using the NuFace mini device on the medium or highest setting, I do feel a bit of a needling sensation but it’s not painful. Ā It feels as if though my skin is being poked by fine needles but not hard enough to penetrate the skin. Ā That’s the best way I can describe the sensation to you.
This is a safe and effective technology and when used consistently, can produce dramatic results. Ā Clinical studies and research from NuFACE* have shown microcurrent helps stimulate ATP production, which is supposed to help stimulate structural proteins, such as collagen and elastin.
How is the NuFace product used?
I thought I might get fancy with this post and make a video for you but NuFace has already thought of that! Ā They have a video that shares how to perform theĀ 5 minute treatment. Ā This a great way to see how the manufacturer recommends you use the product so I have included the video for you here.
[widgets_on_pages id=2]
Within the packaging, there are a few things to note about use of the device:
- Not recommended for use on the neck, groin, chest, or eye muscle within orbital rim
- Not recommended to use more than once daily
- Not for use if you are pregnant
- Device should not be used while plugged into the charger
- Do not use while driving or in the bath or shower (not to be used in or near water)
There are a few other warnings but these are the ones I thought I’d point out. Ā There are also a few contraindications for use that should be carefully reviewed. Ā For example, the device is not approved for use if you are pregnant, have a history or seizures, cancer, or electronic implants. Ā There are additional contraindications in the users manual that should be carefully reviewed to ensure you are a suitable candidate to use this device. Ā Of course, if you have any doubts or concerns, check with your doctor or call the support number provided by NuFACE. Ā You should never be afraid to ask all the questions you want to.
My thoughts on the NuFACE mini
Overall I really like this device and I believe it is capable of affecting the muscles and skin tone. Ā There’s certainly no harm in using it if you are a candidate for the device. Ā As with any muscles in your body, if you exercise them, they become stronger and tighter. Ā Facial muscles follow suit and shouldn’t be neglected. Ā An important question that I don’t have the answer to is how does the strength of the current differ, if at all, between what is approved for use at home versus in a medical setting. Ā If there was a difference, at what level does it really matter and have a profound affect on the results?
Some users of the device experience an immediate lifting in the treated area. Ā That was not my personal experience but I would expect with consistent use the tone of my facial muscles will improve. Ā I plan to continue using the device daily and I will provide an update in 2-3 months.
Where to purchase the NuFACE mini

My favorite beauty tool is my hair straightner!!
My favorite tool is my Blow Dryer
Oh yes, can’t live without that for sure!
My skin is so dry that my favorite beauty tool is the Silk’n ReVit.
I haven’t heard of that. What is it?
It is a microdermabrasion device that helps remove dead skin cells. It is also supposed to help with several other skin problems but I mainly use it because my skin is so dry. It would be great if you could review some of their products!
Oh…. I wonder if it’s like the PMD Microderm that I reviewed about 2 months ago. I’ll have to check out the products. I always love to discover new things!

I need one of these ? Glad you are experiencing a noticeable difference. I look forward to reading your up date on this product. xo ??
So far so good. I did notice my skin is a touch pink after using it but that fades within 5-10 min. I’m traveling this week but I didn’t bring it with me. =(

I would have to say my beauty blender! Flawless finish everytime!
mmm hmmm! LOVE IT!
I don’ have any beauty tool. I only use makeup remover, face cream and make up. Thank you for the chance!
You are most welcome! XO
I really love Clarisonic
Me too. They are so incredibly popular.
i love my PMD!
Oh you got a PMD! Aren’t they great? I really like mine too.
It would be eyelash curlers.)
Thank you for the giveaway!!
Can’t live without them! And you are so very welcome for the giveaway!
I love my Clarisonic Mia 2. I thought I was cleaning well without one but once I got one and started using it every day – whoa, the results are just phenomenal! My skin is triple cleaner and so much softer.
It is amazing what they do. I had some lipstick stains on the back of my hand at Sephora. Nothing would remove it – NOTHING. The lady in the store walked me over to the Clarisonic demos and in 2 seconds buffed the stain right off. I couldn’t believe my eyes.
I like my Clarisonic Mia
Wow, these sure are popular. I wish I owned this company!
The only beauty tool I have are my hands and fingers…giving myself my own facial massage. Would love to win this…thanks for the opportunity!!!
Hands and fingers are good tools! You’re welcome for the opportunity! Best of luck in the drawing, I’m excited to see who this one goes to.
Sounds silly but I love eyelash curlers.
Oh yes! A necessity! I love them too. I could NOT live without my lash curler. My lashes would stick straight out like sticks if I didn’t have my beloved curler. GOOD POINT!
My favourite so far is my Clarisonic
The Clarisonics are so popular. I have the MIA Fit, which one do you have? It’s so hard to choose one!
I’d say Tweezers as they help me keep my eyebrows well definied š
How do you keep yours sharp? I always find mine get dull. Do I just need to replace more frequency or buy a better pair?
Mine also get dull… I think the brand Tweezerman offers a free sharpening guarantee but since they’re more expensive I haven’t tried that brand yet. I wouyd expect them to last longer tho.
I’ve noticed they were more expensive so I haven’t tried them either. Plus, that would mean I’d need two pairs if I had to send one out for sharpening? Or maybe the exchange?
I had not given it much thought before, but you’re right about the need for a second pair! I don’t know if it’s worth it in the end…
I did thoroughly clean mine last night and that did help. My husband was INSISTING they were cruddy. So, I cleaned them and he was right.
My favourite beauty tool is Clarisonic!)
These are so popular. They are truly wonderful!
I love my clarisonic mia.
I have the MIA Fit and I love it. Clarisonics sure are popular!
my fav beauty tool at the moment is the lightstim. I am always on the lookout for devices to help with aging issues so I can avoid surgery!
Oh this is interesting. I have not heard of this device. I know the NuFACE Trinity has a light attachment tool but I haven’t tried it. Do you notice a difference using your Lightstim?
I love my Clarisonic. It gets my face so clean and really does make sure my skin care works its best.
I didn’t use mine consistently (shame on me) but then I got the MIA Fit and I can use it in the shower and I go to town with it everyday now! =)
Honestly, i don’t have any specifics beauty tools, mostly use my fingers. Is that still count as beauty tools!? =D
They sure do!
Well this isn’t a tool but just recently I stumbled across a 3 step kit by Bremenn Clinical it includes a Face mask, Micro Peel and Finishing Cream it was so inexpensive that I decided to give it a try. I have extremely dry skin and just wanted my skin to look healthy. It is supposed to be a 4 week kit used once a week, I have used it twice now and tomorrow will be my third application and it has given me great results. My skin looks healthier and firmer and more defined. My skin no longer looks or feels dry. I honestly didn’t not think this product would work but it did. Even though the kit states it is a four week kit it will definitely last me at least eight weeks. I am not stingy with the product either and for under $10 at a big warehouse store, it’s a steal.
This sounds great! I’ll have to look for it as I haven’t seen it before! Thanks so much for the tip!
I am truly impressed by this product. I am 44 years old and in all my years I find this product has worked the best for me and only in two applications. I checked out the website for BC and the exact same kit that I purchased for $9.99 sells for $79.00. I think I may stock up in case the C warehouse stops carrying it. Best thing if you don’t get the results you expect you can return it. Will you be doing an update to this post? I am curious as to how well this device works and would love more feedback after further use.
I will definitely be updating the post. Sounds like you got a great deal on yours!
My favorite beauty tool would be my Clarisonic, I love it! Thanks for this fantastic opportunity!
You are so welcome! Clarisonic! YES!
I have these little nubby rubber sponge things that massage and clean. They suction cup to my cleanser bottles, Really like them,
Oh I think I have same things! I love mine too.
I don’t have any beauty tools but I have read all about the NuFACE mini and would love to win one! Thanks for the chance!
You’re welcome! good luck with the drawing and have a great weekend!
You’re welcome. Time for you to start your collection!
My favourite beauty tool is my Foreo LUNA for Sensitive/Normal Skin.
I’ve heard a lot about this tool and haven’t tried it. What does it do the best for you?
My favorite beauty tool are my fingers! When I make the time for it I love using a beauty oil and doing a face massage. This device looks quick and effective; now that I’m in my 30’s, I find I’m needing to add steps to my skin routine. Thanks for hosting this; would love to try this!
So true! We have our fingers. Secretly, I think I get the best foundation application with my fingers too.
Wow oh I never heard about this product! I loved, I have not tried many .. but once tried the Clarisonic Mia2 and I loved it! I must say that is on my wish list! good luck to everyone!ā¤ļø
Oh I love my Clarisonic! YES! Isn’t it amazing what that thing removed from your skin?
My tweezers! I’ve been plucking my eyebrows for more years then I care to remember and it’s like cleaning my teeth, just part of the morning routine!
Do you find though that tweezers always get dull? I don’t know if I buy crappy tweezers or I do something wrong. Do yours get dull quickly?
Mine don’t although I do wash them regularly!
My favorite beauty tool is my Clarisonic Mia 2 ? I use it everyday.
I’m with ya on that. I have the MIA fit and I love that little pink dream machine!
My favorite beauty tool..
my heated styling brush. No more burnt hair and split ends!
Mmmm! I have not tried one of those. Sounds cool! Which one do you have that you love?
This is something I really could use this! my skin is so dull,no glow for pregnancy here!! Hyperpigmentation ,I look like i am permanently windburned and age spots!! im 34, an over the last 3 years i get carded!!!!!!!! what happened!!!! and the cheeks and neck :/ elasticity is leaving my face especially around my neck.Thank you fir another awesome contest š
One of the notes on the product is (Ok, bad news coming) is they don’t recommend it during pregnancy. But you could check with you doctor. I’ll tell you… if your skin is dull try some good quality Vitamin C serum. I noticed a difference when I started using it. I buy the one from SkinCeuticals. A little pricey, but I swear it’s worth it. Took about a week and I couldn’t figure out why my skin was more radiant and then I realized it was that stinky and sticky serum. That’s when we fell in love and now we are married for life.
I really like the cleanser tool I have! It gets in my pores and makes it so much easier to clean out my face rather than washing with my hands
oh yes! What goodie gadget do you have?
Even I have tried exercises to tone my facial muscles, but it was too hard, and I was not sure whether I was doing it properly or not, so even I stopped doing it after a while. This device seems to be great, but I will wait for your final review, before making the purchase. Thank you for the giveaway, Iām super excited to participate in this,.. ļ My favorite makeup tool is makeup sponges,.. They make my makeup application smooth and effortless.
Hi Shilpa! Those exercises are weird right? I felt the same way. I couldn’t even tell if I was doing them right and I watched so many YouTube videos! Good luck with the giveaway!
This sounds quite intriguing, I’m very curious to give it a try. Thanks for the giveaway, beautiful!
You are so welcome! So many great new things out for DIY at home!
I had something similar from Avon about 15 years ago & it worked a treat although I ended up using it more for pain relief if I had a migraine. Then I loaned it to my sister & never saw it again!
LOL. So, if you win this one, you can’t loan it out. HEHEHEH
