Hello lovelies! If you have seen my recent Twitter posts, you’d know that I’ve had no Internet connectivity for days. We got a new high speed service which has resulted in repetitive outages. Therefore, the house was rendered useless and we decided to go out to lunch and stop by the MAC counter at Nordstrom’s. A MAC haul was long overdue.
First, let me tell you, I got in trouble today. I was chastised for spending 55 minutes at the MAC counter. For me, it seemed like 20 minutes! I was feeling rushed toward the end and I’m bummed I didn’t get one of the lipsticks I wanted. Therefore, Shy Girl is not yet in my collection. I knew I was getting in trouble because I received a five minute warning from my husband. After that, each time I looked up, he was about five feet closer to me at the MAC counter. As he closed in on me, the faster I swatched. Things were rolling off the counter and hitting the floor. I was starting to fumble and get sloppy. I could feel the pressure. Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumble Bee” was pounding in my head louder and faster as I raced around. Meanwhile, my husband strategically stayed within my line of vision giving me the “the look”. I knew if we met face to face, he would say “That’s it, I’m leaving now”. I didn’t have my wallet so I kept having to dodge him as he stalked me at the displays. I couldn’t be captured until I was ready for him to pay otherwise I was at risk of leaving empty handed. Unfortunately, on the other side of Nordstrom’s, my 13 year old sat comfortably in the ladies shoe department playing his DS3 puffing away like a steam engine. I’m sure the entire department was considering an evacuation for fear of either a sewage disaster or toxic gas leak. It was horrifying knowing my kid was the source of the green cloud that hovered in the area.
Anyhow, despite the pressure I managed to get myself some MAC goodies minus Shy Girl. My husband might be reading this and if he was to surprise me with this little slice of heaven that was forgotten, I would gladly make him the meal of his choice every night for a week. All right, with my plea out of the way, here are my MAC picks. I can’t wait to share some new looks and tutorials I put together! I always look forward to the week when I have new makeup to play with!
MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly
I know this is not exciting but I was nearly out and I needed a fresh pot. I think this is the best eye shadow primer. It hides veins, creates a perfect canvas for your eye shadows, and provides some color pop. Also, I have never had shadow crease when I use this product. If you haven’t tried this as an eye shadow base or primer, definitely do so, it’s excellent.
MAC Sheertone Blush in Peaches
I can’t believe I never owned this! I needed a really soft, true peach blush. I know there are a few other classic MAC peach colors but by the time I was onto blush, the pressure was too intense. I had to get something quick so I grabbed peaches. Thankfully, Kay from Blush and Bronzer posted her spring favorites today for blush and this was on her list. So, I think I’m going to love it!
MAC Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Pure Pout
I have not tried any lipsticks from this collection but they are supposed to be longer wearing. There are not as many colors to choose from but the finish is gorgeous. They have good pigmentation and a satiny sheen that seems to glow. Truly lovely lipsticks. I swatched every single one! I’m looking forward to wearing this next week and it’s great for summer and something I can wear to work. Score!
MAC Extra Dimension Eye Shadow
Ooooh Ahhhh. Newbies from MAC and they are all beauties! These are stunning eye shadows. I think these may be similar to the Make Up Geek Foiled shadows. I wanted some colors to do bronze summer looks so I opted for Havana and Amorous Alloy. These will be so beautiful blended out with MAC Soft Brown (which I also forgot to get a replacement of but I still have some left) and these are marketed as a long wearing formula. When swatching them, I observed intense pigmentation with a consistent velvety texture. MAC has produced an exquisite product here. I will definitely pick up more of these. Without trying them, I already know they are going to be fantastic.
MAC Eye Shadow in Sushi Flower Satin
I grabbed one original formula shadow from MAC. I don’t have anything else like it and want to start playing with more pinks. When I swatched this, the pigmentation was not what I had hoped for but it’s buildable. This is not going to be my holy grail pink but I’m sure I can create some pretty looks both soft and sultry using this color.
MAC Technakohl Liner in Jade Way
I don’t need more liners but I wanted a pretty green to use with the new Extra Dimension shadows I got so I thought I would try this liner. I thought it would be a nice pop of color on the waterline with bronze or gold eye shadows. I didn’t have anything else like it so I’m hoping my cosmetic vision using this color comes to life (in a good way)!
MAC Haul Bonus Item
My cardinal rule is to always get at least one sample of something during any makeup shopping except when you are in the drug store and it’s not an option. Therefore, I requested a sample of MAC’s new Lightful C Tinted Cream SPF 30 with Radiance Booster. I’m not a big fan of BB and CC creams but I wanted to try this. The MAC BB cream has not gotten great reviews but this is a new formula and I heard some positive things about it. There is also a new MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation (in case hubby is reading I’m NW20) and I would have liked to get a sample of this too but ran out of time. So, this is a plea for him.
OK, so that’s all! Shy Girl and the foundation are queued up for next time and I’m looking forward to a week of new makeup looks. I also have a Lorac Palette to open and swatch for you lovelies that is all golds. More summer shimmer. If you have any of these products, let me know what you think! Also, I’ll be doing another visit to MAC soon unless my wonderful, loving hubby drops in to get me my missed items. So, any suggestions on what to pick up next time? What do you love from MAC? (I know there’s a lot to love)!
