Let’s take a peek at the benefits of the ingredients in this smoothie and they promote healthy skin:

Turmeric powder – Studies have shown consuming turmeric helps protect skin from the aging effects of UV sun radiation and the formation of wrinkles and dark spots.  Turmeric in skin care is a holy grail ingredient with benefits off the chart!

Mango – High in beta-carotene, which your body converts to vitamin A.  Vitamin A and C play a key role in repairing damaged skin through and boost the production of collagen.  Mangos can also help reduce acne.

Kumquat – Completely underrated!  These have a wide variety of essential oils, including limonene, alpha-pinene, monoterpenes, and others.  All have beneficial effects on the skin and body.  Plus, these little fruits contain fiber, potassium, calcium, Vitamin A and C.  Kumquats have a lot going on and an intriguing flavor.

Avocado – This is a wonder fruit for your complexion!  Avocados are an excellent source of antioxidant carotenoids.  These antioxidants provide significant protection for your skin from the environmental damage that causes visible signs of aging.  They are high in Vitamin E which is also a skin antioxidant.  Avocados also contain monounsaturated fatty acids which keep your skin moisturized. I could write a whole article about the benefits of eating avocado!  Just eat them!

Kale – One of the most nutrient dense foods you can eat!  Loaded with Vitamins A, K and C (1 cup contains well over 100% of the recommended daily allowance) and bursting with antioxidants.  Kale is also very high in copper which controls inflammation and  stimulates collagen and melanin production.  This is just the tip of the iceberg!

Coconut Water – Contains a powerful anti-microbial called lauric acid that helps protect against skin infections. Also, contains water contains protein called cytokines that is responsible for encouraging cell growth and cell activation.  Think of it as water with added benefits!

Banana – High in vitamin C and B6 which play vital roles in maintaining the elasticity of the skin.  Bananas contain antioxidants and we already know how important those are!  Bananas are also 75% water and therefore naturally hydrating.

Flaxseed oil –  Omega-3 fatty acids found in flax oil are an essential component of epidermal and dermal cells and are necessary to maintain their structural integrity.  OK, that means less wrinkles!  Also ,dry or dull skin may be the result of an Omega-3 diet deficiency.  Only a small amount of flaxseed oil is needed daily to boost skin radiance and moisture.  Many people notice improvement once they consuming a quality flaxseed oil.

Blueberries – An absolute personal favorite!  Blueberries are high in antioxidants and help reduce acne and blotchy skin.  They also contain compounds called anthocyanins, which are very powerful antioxidants.  If that’s not enough, blueberries are also rich in vitamin A and C.

Now that you know what a serious powerhouse this smoothie is, give it a try!
