I’ve been experimenting with my Nature’s Bounty® Earthly Elements™ essential oils ever since I got the entire collection which is now available at Walmart® in the vitamin aisle. These essential oils are so incredibly beautiful and fragrant! There are many combinations that invoke different senses and moods. I had a hard time picking a first recipe to publish. Lucky you, that means, I have more to share in upcoming posts!
I had a pretty hectic weekend and I had a post and a recipe all ready to share but I decided to change it at the last minute. I felt I needed to introduce some aromatherapy that would help with relaxation. I don’t know where my string of bad luck came from but I woke up the other morning, got out of bed, and fell. Next thing I knew? I spent the morning in the emergency room. I got several x-rays and stitches in my eyelid and on my nose. Fortunately, it was just stitches and no bones in my face were fractured! Since the incident happened, I have been a bundle of nerves! I decided to create an aromatherapy blend with fresh summer citrus fragrances to feel refreshed but also essential oils to help me relax so I can sleep better.
What I found really amazing about this collection from Nature’s Bounty was how easy it was to create a quick new aromatherapy blend that met my needs. Wherever the day may take you… these products are easy to work with. You can blend the oils to help invoke the feelings and senses that you want to and it’s not difficult to do!
I hope you love this aromatherapy moisturizing soft body buffing polish as much as I do. The fine grains of sugar and almond meal in the formula provide gentle exfoliation and the shea butter is intensely moisturizing. The aromatherapy blend provides a sense of calm and relaxation that is refreshing and awakening. It’s a beautiful start or end to any day. When using this scrub in your shower, you will feel the shea butter afterwards on your skin. If you have never used pure shea butter, it may seem greasy at first. Don’t worry! Allow a few minutes for it to absorb. Then dry off with a towel and your skin should feel soft, exfoliated, moisturized.
DIY: Calming Summer Citrus Body Polish
Ingredients for Calming Summer Citrus Body Polish:
- 1/2 cup Nature’s Bounty Earthly Elements Almond Oil
- 10 drops Nature’s Bounty Earthly Elements Chamomile Oil
- 20 drops Nature’s Bounty Earthly Elements Lavender Oil
- 30 drops Nature’s Bounty Earthly Elements Grapefruit Oil
- 18 drops Nature’s Bounty Earthly Elements Lemongrass Oil
- 1/2 cup shea butter
- 2 teaspoons vitamin E oil (or 8 capsules opened and oil removed)
- 1/2 cup almond meal
- 3/4 cup finely ground sugar
Instructions for Calming Summer Citrus Body Polish:
Step 1: Combine the almond meal, sugar, vitamin e oil, and Nature’s Bounty almond oil in a large bowl and blend well with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon until all ingredients are incorporated and the mixture is well blended and smooth.
Step 2: Depending on the temperature of the shea butter, it may be soft and creamy or in a solid form. If it is solid, microwave it for about 15 seconds. Check to see if it has softened and can be easily mixed and measured. The shea butter will soften with a very minor increase in temperature. Gently warm it until it is creamy and easy to work with and combine it with the other ingredients from Step 1.
Step 3: Add the essential oils. Open the bottle of oil you intend you use and gentle tilt the bottle over the contents of the bowl. As the oil drops into the bowl, count the drips until you reach the recommended amount.
Step 4: Blend everything well and put into an air tight jar for storage.
This delightful body scrub will last up to a year if stored in a dry and dark place. I keep my extra scrub in a dark jar in the refrigerator (jar on left). This beautiful natural product can be used in place of soap or body wash. You will notice the shea butter solidifies but do not be concerned about that. When you want to use the product, scoop a small amount into your hand, add a little warm water, and allow the scrub to emulsify. Apply it to your skin using a gentle circular motion and then rinse well. Wait a few minutes before drying your skin with a towel.
Here is the completed product! A lovely body polish made with Nature’s Bounty Earthly Elements.
You can feel good knowing everything you are putting on your skin is natural. These are also the nicest gifts! What types of aromatherapy blends would you love to combine and try? Maybe I will come up with a recipe for you!
